QR Weekend Sprints & ICC Consistency Sprint - 27 Oct 2024
Queensland Raceway
10:00 – 17:00
This event has now sold out. If you are still interested in joining us, please select 'Join wait list' and we will contact you if more spaces open up. Joining the wait list is so we can assess the interest in opening up additional spaces but it is not a commitment to buy a ticket (eg. you won't be forced to purchase a ticket if we do open more spaces). Welcome to the final private grid Sprints session hosted by the QLD 86 BRZ Car Club for 2024. We have booked our own private grid which will be limited to those booking through the club. In addition to being a regular QLD 86 BRZ Car Club Private Grid, we are also hosting the ‘Consistency Sprint’ round of the ICC (Inter-Club Challenge Queensland) series and run as a Come and Try day. What do I need? To come along all you need is a road registered car, long sleeved shirt, long pants, helmet, timer and Motorsports Australia license. QR have a smaller number of helmets that be hired for $5 and they also sell helmets starting from $89.95. Timers can be hired from QR for the day and a Motorsports Australia day license can be purchased via QR for $30.   Gloves, race suites, fire extinguisher, battery and tow point markers are not required (but can of course be used if you have them). See further below for more details. Come and Try ICC Consistency Sprints Details Unlike regular Sprints where you are aiming to set the fastest lap time, ‘Consistency Sprints’ are about setting the most consistent laps times across the afternoon. The event will also be run as a 'Come and Try' day to make it easier for anyone looking to step up from Happy Laps and/or come to their first Sprints event. As this is being hosted as part of a regular Queensland Raceway Sprints afternoon, the format will consist of 2 sessions on the Sprint layout followed by 2 sessions on the Clubman layout and then 2 sessions of the Switchback layout. Each session will consist of a minimum of 5 hot laps. Scoring for the ICC Consistency Sprint event will be based on the time difference between your 3 most consistent/closest lap times from any one session on each of the three layouts. These times differences will be added together and whoever has lowest time will be declared the winner. Points will be allocated according to the 2024 ICC guidelines and will count towards the overall 2024 ICC Series. To assist with the grid order, as part of the sign-up process please: Indicate if you wish to be included in scoring process for the ICC Consistency Sprint round (e.g. set consistent lap times) or intend to participate as a normal Sprints session (e.g. go as quick as possible) Indicate what sort of lap times you expect to set for each track layout in seconds (e.g. '67.5 seconds') This is to ensure we can have the grid ordered with the fastest cars at the front and slowest cars at the back. This results in cars naturally spreading out over the 5 hot laps and reduces the amount of overtaking required during each session. If you don’t have an idea of what your lap times will be, please list if you have any experience driving on the track (eg Happy Laps) or times from other tracks and we will do our best to allocate you to a suitable gird position (however, there are no issues if you need to move positions on the day). Below is some information on how sprints works and the requirements. If you have any questions, please see the bottom of this page for details on how to contact us. Signup Process Register and pay for your tickets via the ‘Get Tickets’ button on this page: If you wish to participate in the QR General Practice session in the morning, please pay for this via step 2. Register for the event via the QR Website (create or login to your QR account if this comes up with a login page): Select the ‘86/BRZ Car Club Group (Approval Required)’ from the category drop down box. For first timers who have never done sprints at Queensland Raceway, you can purchase a day license via the QR website (see step 2c above) or an annual licence from https://motorsport.org.au/licence/introduction. Please note that it may take a couple of weeks between paying for an annual Motorsport Australia license and receiving the actual license. ** ** Timers are available for hire for $30 directly from QR on the day (please don’t forget to return these on the day as timers cost in excess of $700 if you accidently take it home). If using a laminated number supplied by QR, please return this at the end of the day. The QR Driver’s Briefing for Sprints starts at 12:30pm. All drivers MUST attend the QR briefing at 12:30pm in addition to the ICC & 86/BRZ pre-driver briefing at 12:15pm. Cars are on track from 1:00pm. The usual order is: Two sessions on the Sprint layout Two sessions on the Clubman layout and Two sessions on the relatively new Switchback layout QR will then generally have a short Passenger Lap session. Welcome to the fourth of five private grid Sprints session hosted by the QLD 86 BRZ Car Club for 2024. We have booked our own private grid which will be limited to those booking through the club. Please note that that as of 2024 Queensland Raceway have implemented a mandatory $25 Safety & Track Maintenance Surcharge which is not included in the tickets purchased via this page (while this is the case there are also now 6 sessions rather than 4 per Sprints event so value for money has actually improved). Please see point 2c.ii further below for more details.  To ensure these events remain financially viable for the club to host, entry will be open to members of other car clubs with similarly paced cars. All of the normal benefits of a private grid will still apply, such as ensuring cars are ordered from fastest to slowest for each session and knowing that you are participating with likeminded people who respect each other and our time on the track. Pricing is identical to that of QR but has the benefits outlined above and not being grouped with cars from the general public. Below is some information on how sprints works and the requirements. If you have any questions, please see the bottom of this page for details on how to contact us. Additional information on how QR runs their sprint sessions, clothing requirements and vehicle requirements can be found at: the top of the QR sign on page, https://www.qldraceways.com.au/events-at-queensland-raceway/sprints#/, or further below on this page. ** General Practice upgrades (Super Sprints) are now purchased directly from the QR website as outlined above. ** ** A Motorsport Australia Speed License is required for anyone entering sprints (QR no longer accept AASA or Racers licences for Sprints events). Timers are not mandatory and if you wish, there are many apps for your phone that you can use to time your laps. While not very accurate if just using your phone, when paired with an external GPS unit this is extremely accurate. The RaceChrono Pro app (or Harry’s Lap Timer) paired with a Garmin Glo 2 or RaceBox Mini GPS unit are popular choices amongst club members. If you do hire a timer from QR your lap times will be published to speedhive on MYLAPS.  ** How Sprints are Run: QR Sign On for sprints starts at around 11:00am although you need to be earlier if you want a secure a pit bay. We have an 86/BRZ pre-driver briefing at 12:15pm sharp before the main briefing. For sign on you are required to have photo I.D as well as your Motorsports Australia licence (or proof of purchase of the Motorsports Australia licence i.e confirmation email). At sign on you can hire your timer for the afternoon. The timer can be fixed to anywhere on the car (inside or outside) as long as the red part is facing down. Cars must display a race number on their left side, if you do not have a preferred number one will be allocated to you, laminated numbers can be picked up at sign on (this will need to be affixed to the left side of your car using sticky tape). If using a laminated number supplied by QR, please return this at the end of the day. The QR Driver’s Briefing for Sprints starts at 12:30pm. All drivers MUST attend the QR briefing at 12:30pm in addition to the 86/BRZ pre-driver briefing at 12:15pm. Cars are on track from 1:00pm. Six (6) 5 hot lap sessions are delivered which count for points. The usual order is: Two sessions on the Sprint layout Two sessions on the Clubman layout and Two sessions on the relatively new Switchback layout QR will then generally have a short Passenger Lap session. Anyone going out in the Passenger Lap session must have a passenger and any passengers must have a wrist band, helmet and long clothing. If time permits, there will also be a bonus laps session which is typically on the National layout. Vehicle and Apparel Requirements: - Road Registered Cars 1. ABS & SRS systems may be disconnected at the driver’s option. 2. In road cars the drivers must wear an approved helmet, and non-flammable clothing covering the entire body  (such as long pants, long sleeve shirt and enclosed shoes - eg helmet, neck to wrist to ankle clothes and enclosed shoes). Other items such as gloves, balaclava, race suite, harness are optional. 3. If vehicle is road registered or road registrable it must meet the roadworthy requirements of Qld TMR Unregistered Vehicles Please contact us if you are planning to use an unregistered vehicle. 09:00 – 13:00
Mid-Year 86 BRZ Cruise! Saturday 13th July 2024 Join us again for one of our biggest social events / cruises of the year. We are starting at Lakeside Raceway after Happy Laps for the pre-cruise meet (Look for the QLD86BRZ Flag) then making our way up to Killcoy (Ashton park rest area) for the mid-way stop, and finally to the Gap Tavern along some great driving roads. This is a great opportunity to meet many members of the club, take photos and have a great day out! If you're intending to come, please get a free ticket down below to help up keep track of numbers.  A Google map route is available here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/r1uF9NP6XtBsDThY6 Things to note on the route The route has been chosen to be a fun mix of technical and more open roads, there are still a few things that should be noted for your safety and enjoyment: 1. FILL UP AFTER HAPPY LAPS! This is an approximately 200km route and we dont you to miss out on it. There are a few servos near the starting location, so please use them! It's better to play it safe than end up stuck out there! 2. To try keep the cruise from spliting or having people get lost on the route, we're going to split people into smaller groups, each with a lead car. Just follow your lead car should your maps not work. 3. Some of the roads may narrow down to one lane at a time, so please drive accordingly. 4. Speed cameras and police are known to patrol these roads, please keep that in mind. 5. Current weather predictions are looking good, however there still might be rain during the cruise. Please drive to the conditions and be safe! General Notes for the day  This is a CRUISE not a Rally, there are no prizes for getting to the venue first. All attendees should adhere to all road rules and obey all signs, speed limits and drive to the conditions. Please be respectful when leaving our starting and end points, your behaviour reflects on us as a Club. Some of the roads on our cruise are winding and fun to drive, but use common sense and stay safe. Take it easy and keep a safe following distance. Maintaining a good following distance also allows for more flowing traffic through the winding sections of road. When turning at an intersection, wait until the person behind you can see you and where you're going. This helps prevent people from getting lost!   It's looking like a great day out, so we'll see you there!!!

QR Weekend Sprints - 2 June 2024
Queensland Raceway
10:00 – 17:00
Welcome to the first of five private grid Sprints session hosted by the QLD 86 BRZ Car Club for 2024. Signup Process Register and pay for your tickets via the ‘Get Tickets’ button on this page: If you wish to participate in the QR General Practice session in the morning, please pay for this via step 2. Complete the ‘Tickets Details’ page including contact information and vehicle details. Please note that a Motorsports Australia ‘Speed License’ is required to participate in QR Sprints. If you don’t have one already, an annual license can be purchased for $165 (via https://motorsport.org.au/licence) or a day license can be purchased via the QR website for $25 (see details below). Enter your payment details to pay for the tickets via the QLD 86 BRZ Car Club website. Register for the event via the QR Website (create or login to your QR account if this comes up with a login page): Select the ‘86/BRZ Car Club Group (Approval Required)’ from the category drop down box. Enter the relevant details on the form. Select any optional extras (noting the below) you wish to pay for such as hiring a MYLAPS timer, or upgrading to Super Sprints (participating in General Practice in the morning). If you don’t already have a Motorsports Australia Speed License and plan to just use a day license, select the ‘I will purchase a Day License now for $25.00’ option. Please note that there is mandatory '$25.00 Safety & Track Maintenance Surcharge'. This is a mandatory charge applied to anyone participating in Sprints regardless of how you are entering the event. Click the ‘Pay $##.00 Now’ button. If you have selected the options of hiring a timer (+$30) and the (mandatory) Safety & Track Maintenance Surcharge (+$25) this should be $55.00. If the amount is $180 plus the extra items you have selected, please ensure you have selected the ‘86/BRZ Car Club’ Category option at the top of the form. All participants must complete both steps 1 and 2 outlined above. Please ensure you have registered with QR via their website no later than 12:00pm on the Friday before the Sprint session as this is when QR close the online sign in process. If you have registered online, on the day you will be able to join the express queue when signing in. Otherwise, you will need to join the standard queue and will likely be charged a manual sign on fee by QR.
