Welcome to the second private grid sprints session hosted by the QLD 86 BRZ Car Club for 2023. In addition to being a regular QLD 86 BRZ Car Club Private Grid, we are also hosting the ‘Consistency Sprint’ round of the ICC (Inter-Club Challenge Queensland) series.
Unlike regular Sprints where you are aiming to set the fastest lap time, ‘Consistency Sprints’ are about setting the most consistent laps times across the afternoon. As this is being hosted as part of a regular Queensland Raceway Sprints afternoon, the format will consist of 2 sessions on the Sprint layout followed by 2 sessions on the Clubman layout. Each session will consist of a minimum of 5 hot laps.
Scoring for the ICC Consistency Sprint event will be based on the time difference between your 3 most consistent/closest lap times from any one session on the Sprint layout plus the time difference between your 3 most consistent/closest lap times from any one session on the Clubman layout. These times differences will be added together and whoever has lowest time will be declared the winner. Points will be allocated according to the 2023 ICC guidelines and will count towards the overall 2023 ICC Series.
Subject to numbers, we are expecting to run multiple grids. To ensure you can be allocated to the correct grid, as part of the sign-up process please:
Additional information on how QR runs their sprint sessions, clothing requirements and vehicle requirements can be found at:
Sign on for sprints starts at around 11:00am. You may need to be at Queensland Raceway earlier if you want a secure a pit bay. We have an ICC/ QLD 86 BRZ Car Club driver briefing at 12:00pm sharp before the main QR briefing.
For sign on at QR you are required to have photo I.D as well as your Motorsports Australia licence (or proof of purchase of the Motorsports Australia day licence). At sign on you can pick up your timer for the afternoon. The timer can be fixed to anywhere on the car (inside or outside) as long as the red part is facing down. Cars must also display numbers on them, if you do not have a preferred number one will be allocated to you by QR. Laminated numbers can be picked up at sign on. Please bring tape or something similar to affix this number to the left-hand side of your car. Timers and any QR supplied numbers must be returned to QR at the end of the day.
The QR Driver’s Briefing for Sprints starts at 12:30pm. All drivers MUST attend both the QR briefing (at 12:30pm) and the ICC/QLD 86 BRZ Car Club briefing (12:00pm).
Cars are on track at 1:00pm.
4 x 5 lap sessions are run which count for points. These sessions are 2 x Sprint then 2 x Clubman layouts. QR will then generally have a short Passenger Lap Session followed by bonus laps on the National layout with the remaining time available. For those participating in the ICC Consistency Sprint event, results will be announced as soon as they have been calculated after the final (4th) sprint session. However, all participants are welcome to head out on track for the passenger and bonus laps sessions if you want to.
Timing will be live to Natsoft for the event (http://racing.natsoft.com.au/results/#1) and all times will be uploaded after the event.
