2016 AGM Board Meeting Summary

Well that is a wrap for the inaugural Annual General Meeting for the QLD 86/BRZ Car Club which was held this past Sunday.  The meeting has been a culmination of many years of building the club from roadside meetings of the first car owners, monthly catch ups, cruises, dyno days, dedicated happy lap sessions and many more events.

The past few years the club has been driven by Joel Zim, as we all know him, and it has been Joel’s vision to transform the club into an incorporated club and we started the process in November 2015.  From slow beginnings we have built up an excellent group of like-minded enthusiasts that work tirelessly behind the scenes to run events, obtain sponsors and promote the club.

Now that Joel has fulfilled this goal, he has made the decision to step down from the ...

Twins 4th Annual Birthday Cruise

Just wanted to say thanks to all the crew that attended our Twins 4th Annual Birthday Cruise, It was awesome to see a good turnout of cars and like minded people.

It really means a lot to me and the board that you are all passionate about the twins and can make it out to our events.

I would also like to thank the board for their time and effort making these events possible.

Thanks again for being a part of our club.

Tribute Cruise – Mike Hagen aka NAM678

Mike was one of our original 86/ BRZ car club members, back in the day when there were less than fifty members in total.

Not one to shy away from a motokana track or skid pan, he was a speed demon, giving it his all, against the best of our young guns and all many years his junior. He was also known to be a right charmer towards the 86/BRZ Babes.

The news of his passing came as a huge shock and spread on the club page quicker than the fastest national sprint times.

In honour of a genuine Mr Nice Guy, a friend to many who knew him in the club and to those who wish they did, on Saturday 23 January, 2016 we remembered him with a car club tribute cruise from Brisbane to his local RSL in his home town of Tewantin.

You will be forever immortalised with the QLD 86 BRZ Car Club Inc. with our Annual Club Championship Trophy named in your honour – Mike Hagen (Member 2012 -2016).

Statement from QLD 86 BRZ Car Club Inc. President – Joel Sang:

We certainly could not have asked for a better venue to hold our annual Christmas Event at Bullocky’s Rest with the growing numbers of Queensland 86/BRZ owners. Likewise, we were lucky to have the warmest day, to enjoy the outdoors.

I would firstly like to thank the overwhelming generosity from all our business supporters, who kindly donated towards the amazing gift boxes, awards and prizes that we were able to give to so many lucky 86/BRZ owners.

Similarly, to the business supporters who donated their personal time and services at this event, providing a variety of entertainment for everyone to enjoy – DJ Smith, Tiana’s Dance Parties and Chris Withers & Melissa Coggins Sports. And lastly to the businesses who contributed in providing the 86/BRZ signature blue and orange colour theme – Subaru and Crazy Fish Sushi, Pacific Pines.

To all the owners who arrived from near or far and who maybe an old or new member of the club, thank you for joining this event, without you these would not be organised, so your continued support and enthusiasm is greatly appreciated. Our official attendance numbers were;

Car Type: Numbers:

Car count

In addition, any organised club events do not occur on their own, they are put together by the committee, who all volunteer many hours of their own time behind the scenes to make these events happen. To these people your support and commitment does not go unnoticed, thank you.

It has also been a successful year for the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ, with both Automotive Manufacturers launching new models/ series in Australia in 2015 and I’m sure their best is yet to come.

Finally I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy and safe festive season and I look forward to more good times ahead for the QLD 86 BRZ Car Club Inc. in 2016.
